Cal-Ila Board Meeting
July 15, 2006
Held at Solano County Fairgrounds after ALSA Show

Present:

Meeting called to order 4:45PM

Old Business:

Treasurers Report

  • All bills from Grass Valley Show have been paid.
  • Checking account has $22,000.00
  • CD $18,000.00

Annual Davis Membership Meeting:

  • Tentative date is the third weekend of March, 2007
  • Greg Sykes to confirm date with UC Davis
  • MSP to have UCD cater lunch and for CAL-ILA to have coffee etc in meeting room as we did this year.
  • MSP if old coffee pot unable to be repaired to purchase a new one

California State Fair: September 1-4, 2006

  • Youth age changed this year and there may be extra fees for fleece on top of ALSA fee.
  • MSP to have CAL-ILA absorb the fee for the fleece, if necessary.
  • Ice Cream Social to be run by Cal-ILA Board as last year
  • Suzann is having Scheduling issues with Mark Smith but is confident she can have it all worked out with the State Fair.
  • MSP to allow $400 for new awards

Third Annual Barn Sale & our First Ever ALL-YOUTH SHOW October 14, 2006

  • Hosted by Don & Helen Ritchey
  • MSP to charge a $5.00 camping fee for those staying over at the Ritchey ranch. Charge will cover extra portable toilets
  • Entry forms for our First Ever All-Youth ALSA show are now available on our website for downloading
  • Dave and Pat with Dave's Carts are unable to attend this year
  • Suzann to ask folks from Peru she meet come that make wonderful items with llamas
  • Quality Llama halter & leads will be available again this year
  • Early advertisement for Barn Sale & Youth Show. Try to get listed in community events.
  • Youth Show is Performance and Showmanship
  • Sanction fee only $25. We are not classified as “New Show”
  • Promote ranch advertisements on Cal-ILA trailer

2007 Grass Valley Cal-ILA Show

  • MSP that Saturday arrivals for those doing halter only and leaving Sunday may register for just one days events but will need to pay for and use stalls provided by the fairgrounds & camping at full rates.
  • Tom to find judges early before everyone is booked

New Business

2006 Community Conference in August:

  • MSP since such late notice for Conference and the cost involved (Minimum $350 roundtrip air fare) that we bring it up at our next Annual Membership Meeting and see what membership wants brought to the 2007 Conference so we can find an appropriate representative for Cal-ILA

FFA Committee Louisville Kentucky

  • MSP to donate $100 to the FFA Committee. They need 10 organizations to donate $100 for contest for the youth. “Why I need a Llama”. For this donation will be recognized in 53,000 handouts and have recognition for Cal-ILA and our website address.
