Cal-ILA President Message
June 2007
We are well into our summer activities. Grass Valley show was a real success. The Renaissance festival on Friday night was lots of fun. Check out the pictures on the web. The very best part of the Grass Valley show is the sense of fun and family that prevails during this event and we again maintained this feeling.
I want to say how impressed I have been with the wonderful turnouts we have been having at our various CAL-ILA sponsored events. The Butte walk, the Mallon Clinics, and the shearing party all brought out at least 30-40 of our members. Keep up the fun. Our calendar is filling up for the rest of the year. Check the Calendar of events on the web page.
We are working with the CAL-PACA group on the January Camelid Symposium at UC Davis. CAL-ILA members will receive a discount on their registration fee for this event. Those of you that attended last year were very impressed. This symposium covers all areas of camelid care and includes three levels of classes for the very new owner to the very experienced. More information will come out as we learn more. This is well worth the money and time spent to attend.
Coming up the end of August is the California State Fair. This will be the 20th year that CAL-ILA has sponsored the llama show at the State Fair. I hope to see a great turnout for this show. Let’s show the state how great llamas are! Even if you don’t show come down and support us and cheer on your favorite llama.
If you know someone that has llamas and has not joined CAL-ILA please promote the idea that they join in the education and fun of our organization. New members keep our group alive.
Your Board has a great many activities planned for the coming months. Just about every month has one or two or more fun things for you to do with your llamas. Check the website calendar often for information on up coming events.
