Cal-ILA President Message

February 2007

Well here we are at the beginning of another llama year of activities and fellowship. Our show season will be starting up soon and other CAL-ILA activities are already under way. In January we had the New Year's Day walk at Lagoon Valley park in Vacaville. It was gratifying to see many of our new members out to participate in this fun way to start the new year. The weather couldn't have been better and as usual the potluck food was plentiful and great tasting.

In February members did the American River Clean-up project. CAL-ILA has a new sign at the beginning and end of our mile of trail that we are responsible for keeping clean. About once every three or four months a group meets to walk the trails and along the river picking up litter and greeting the public followed by a fun potluck lunch.

This past year of CAL-ILA has been one of the most active we have had in quite a while. Every month had at least one and sometimes two CAL-ILA sponsored activities. The up coming year will be the same. Many activities will be repeated and new ones added to the calendar. CHECK THE CAL-ILA WEB PAGE for details, changes and additions to the up coming event calendar. If you have an activity you would like to see put together contact any one of the Board Members with your ideas.

March 17 is our general membership and educational meeting at U.C. Davis. Our supportive veterinarians will be in attendance and there will be speakers on packing and toxic plants and other poisons. We will also have the usual auctions and raffle items. These fundraisers support the educational activities, research, and youth programs that CAL-ILA is so proud of. Please make an item contribution to one of the fundraising projects at our meeting.

See you at the big meeting in Davis.
