Showing Your Llama or Alpaca

Over the years, showing livestock is the primary form of marketing.  Whether you own sheep, cattle, dogs or camelids putting your best in the show ring tells the world what your breeding program and herd management is all about!

But, just throwing on a halter, brushing off some stray and dragging your animal around the arena does not put you or your animal in the best light.  To help you put your best foot forward, we have gathered information from show judges, ALSA board members and champion owners to give you the inside scoop.

The best kept secret is to join a show association.  These groups develop the standards for judging and with your membership you will be able to access lots of information on showing and what rules pertain to shows sanctioned by each organization.  ALSA posts their handbook on their website for anyone to download.  This publication provides information that can be used at any show.
