Composting

At the 2010 Annual meeting, Rick Adams and Lora Crawford described how to make some extra cash selling llama compost. Controlling the temperature and moisture content of your compost pile is key to killing weeds and breaking the pellets down to the world's best compost.
In the late 90's, the 4-H llama group in Sonoma County actually had their llama pellets analyzed, which is one of the first steps to marketing your product as fertilizer. Calling the manure; soil amendment, mulch or compost does not require analysis of your compost. Fertilizer must have the analysis completed and results printed on the bag or container. Such as 1:1:1.
In
the interest of providing more information, we have included a copy of
the analysis the 4-H'ers completed in 1997. This analysis is
informative, but have an updated analysis performed on YOUR manure
before labeling your fertilizer.
