Mary Adams - Secretary

For those of you who do not know me, my name is Mary Adams, of Wild Oak Llamas. My husband Rick and I began our life changing adventure with llamas back in the fall of 2002 by purchasing two “pets” from Stonehenge Llamas.  Llamas are far from being just pets now! They are our obsession. We are Llamaholics!  The “pets” of two has grown to a “herd” of nearly 60.  Every day is a learning experience and a blessing.  We have made remarkable friendships and had incredible experiences that we never would have had if it were not for llamas.

Showing is one of the biggest pleasures of llama ownership and we attend as many shows as economically feasible.  We like to support the llama industry in any way possible. With the economy the way it is, the best way feasible is to volunteer and be supportive in helping the organization meet its objectives.  I have severed three years on the Cal-ILA Board and am currently serving my last year on the LANA Board of Directors.

Cal-ILA is our local organization and we want to do all that we can to help sustain it and make it as soluble as possible.  Therefore, I have submitted my candidacy to run for the position of Secretary of the Cal-ILA Board of Directors.  I have held this office before and believe I would be an asset to the organization.  I am not a political person and try not to get caught up in that BS.  All I care about is the enjoyment and pleasure having llamas has brought Rick and me; and how I want others to discover that in their lives as well.  I would appreciate your support and your vote.

Thank You, Mary B. Adams

Lora Lee Crawford – Vice President

As VP of CAL-ILA I plan to work closely with the President and board to support the mission statement and bylaws of CAL-ILA.

With the economy as it is today, we need to work harder to support our lama community.   Our CAL-ILA activities provide an opportunity where people to come together for fun and friendship.  Lama organizations must be supported in order for our community to continue to enjoy the activities associated with owning these wonderful animals.

As many of you know I have owned lamas for over 30 years and have been an active member in several organizations during those years.

My personal goals are:
-
To determine what activities best meet the needs of the membership.
- Identify ways to increase the membership numbers.
- Work closely with the organizational committees to support their activities.

I appreciate your support and will work hard to enhance our organization and members.

Lora Lee Crawford

Barney McClung – Board Member

I am Barney McClung and I am very excited to be a candidate for the Board of Directors.  My passion for this organization began at the 1994 ILA Conference held in San Mateo.  I was impressed with the commitment the members had for the llamas, llama owners and the industry as a whole.

CAL-ILA was the host affiliate for the conference and Bev and I were put to work helping out with the llama show.  That initial participation led to being the newsletter editor, membership coordinator, obstacle course designer, board member, and most recently, show superintendent and webmaster.

I believe that as members we need to take an active role in giving back to the association that provides so much to the llama community.  Being a board member is not participating with the “in” group, it’s a matter of “walking the talk.”

The organization recently updated our By-Laws and the Board has been actively making changed to ensure CAL-ILA more responsive to your needs.  I look forward to playing a part in keeping CAL-ILA as the leader in the llama community.

Thank you for your vote.

Joy Pedroni – President

I am Joy Pedroni and I am running for President of Cal-ILA.  I have been on the Cal-ILA Board of Directors for the last three years, serving as a Director and as Vice President.  I am honored to have been asked to run for President, especially since I still consider myself to be fairly new to the llama community.  In the four years that I have been involved with llamas, I find that I am 100% committed to llamas and have truly found my passion in life.

I am a member of LANA and serve as a Director on their Board, a member of Llamas of the Wine Country, the PLTA, ALSA, the ILR and of course, Cal-ILA.  Last year I co-chaired the committee that organized the Cal-ILA Annual Membership Meeting at UC Davis.  I have been on the committee that organizes and hosts the UC Davis Camelid Symposium every January for the past three years.  I have been a volunteer at many llama shows and am willing to help out in any way I can.

I’m excited about the possibility of being Cal-ILA’s president.  I want to make communication and participation the goal of all Cal-ILA members this year.  Together we can make Cal-ILA stronger (and more fun!)

Thanks for your consideration.
